Starlink Installation Cost in DFW: What Determines the Price of a Professional Install

Starlink hardware comes with everything needed for a basic self-install, and plenty of DFW homeowners should just do it themselves. The professional install market exists for everyone else: two-story rooflines, mature trees, brick exteriors, and businesses that need the connection to actually stay up. Here is what sets the price when you hire it out.

The four factors that set your price

Mount type. The included stand works on the ground with a clear sky view. Most DFW properties need better: an eave or roof mount to clear the tree line, a chimney mount, or a tall ground pole set in concrete out where the sky opens up. Each step up adds hardware and labor. Pole mounts with trenched cable runs are the biggest jobs.

Cable routing. The difference between a clean install and a regrettable one. Cable fished through the attic with a sealed wall penetration takes longer than cable run through a window frame, and it is the version you want on your house. Trenching to a pole mount adds distance and digging.

Network setup. This is where quotes genuinely differ. Basic router placement is quick. Bypass mode into a mesh system sized for your floor plan, with smart home devices migrated over, is real network work. Business failover configuration, where Starlink takes over automatically when fiber goes down, is its own scope.

Property factors. Steep roof pitches, two-story eaves, tile roofs, and HOA mounting rules all shape what the install takes. Rural properties at the edge of the Metroplex, where Starlink makes the most sense, often need pole mounts precisely because of the trees that make them rural.

  • Obstruction scan: do they run it at your property before choosing the mount location, or just put the dish where the ladder reaches?
  • Penetrations: how are roof and wall penetrations sealed? The answer should involve proper flashing or sealant rated for the surface, not silicone and hope.
  • WiFi plan: does the quote include making the internet good inside the house, or does it end at the router?
  • Wind rating: DFW storms are not gentle. Ask what hardware holds the dish.

Sometimes the honest recommendation is no dish at all. If fiber reaches your address, fiber wins. If your problem is WiFi coverage rather than the internet connection itself, fixing the home network costs less than adding satellite service. We tell people this during assessments because a customer steered right calls back later.
